Factors Affecting Adaptation Towards Online Newspaper Reading with the COVID-19 Pandemic
Ranaweera, B.P.
This study aimed to apprehend the adaption to online newspaper reading with COVID-19 pandemic by focusing on staff members of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. Online newspaper is the easiest and best way to get news today. Online newspaper facilitators create a new path for online newspaper readers. During this pandemic, people face difficulties such as lockdown, travel restriction, quarantine or isolation, etc. Thus, most of them are at home and do work under the work-from-home concept meantime demand
for online news is also increased harshly. Literature survey revealed that a handful of studies were done in the Sri Lankan context related to the present study. Accordingly, data were collected from 291 academic and non-academic executive staff members at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The collected data were analysed using statistical techniques; reliability test, descriptive analysis, Andrew F. Hayes moderation process analysis, correlation coefficient and regression analysis with SPSS. Respondents are
from all six faculties and are in various age groups with different educational qualifications. However, even though most staff members heard about online newspapers, online newspaper usage is low. Results of correlation and regression analysis confirmed that online habit, internet experience and social influence positively influence adoption of online newspaper reading. Furthermore, moderating influence of gender, age and education were tested with Andrew F. Hayes moderation process analysis and revealed concerning demographic factors moderate only the relationships between internet experience and online habit with the dependent variable. The Study recommends and gives insights into developing a creative and effective plan for online newspaper providers to increase the usage of online newspaper reading among online users.

How do Project Management Resources Contribute to Project Success? An Empirical Study of Sri Lankan Non-Governmental Organizations
Nanthagopan, Y.
Recent studies focus more on understanding and identifying Project Management (PM) resources in the project implementing organisations. The literature underlines the importance of PM resources for improving project performance and supporting projects operating in an uncertain and complex environment. However, the empirical studies on Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are lacking to reveal. This study aims to develop a structural model to see the contribution of PM Resources to project success. In a quantitative survey method, the structured questionnaire is used to collect the data which obtained 447 responses. A Structural Equational Modelling (SEM) technique has been applied to develop the valid model. The setting for this study is Sri Lanka, a country recovering from civil war, natural disasters and economic turmoil and there have been several development projects have been underway by NGOs. Survey study findings confirmed that the three levels of PM resources, team, organisational and collaborative social have significant impacts on overall project success: PM success, project success and NGO success. These findings were used to develop an integrated conceptual model for PM resources and project success in NGOs. Overall, the model provides an academic contribution as a limited amount of research has been made on PM resources and project success from the NGO perspective. Further, it provides practical implications for NGO management to understand and build PM resources to improve successful project delivery by NGOs.

Empowering Tourism Entrepreneurship in Northern Province of Sri Lanka- Prospect and Challenges in a Post-war Environment
Sasitharan, Paramanantham; Premaratna, Sandaram P.
In the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, many tourism opportunities are available to develop the tourism and hospitality sector, but the area suffers from a lack of effective and efficient entrepreneurship. This study aims to identify the prospects and challenges affecting tourism and hotel entrepreneurship performance in post-conflict areas, in the Northern Region of Sri Lanka. The study was conducted with 66 tourism and hotel entrepreneurs who were selected on a simple random sampling basis and were contacted through a structured questionnaire. In addition, key informant interviews with five tourism experts were conducted to get experts’ opinions. The findings of this research reveal that financial, marketing and technical challenges, particularly inadequate credit line, unfavourable business environment, poor infrastructure, lack of R&D, lack of ICT and creativity & innovation mainly affect the performance of tourism and hotel entrepreneurship. On the other hand, environmental, geographical and human capital prospects, particularly enormous geographical location, seasonal environment, improvement in the security situation, the more significant contribution from war-torn areas, accelerated infrastructure development, public private partnerships for infrastructure development, potential growth in the services sector: ICT, health and education are primarily available to support the tourism and hotel entrepreneurship.

The Influence of Corporate Governance on Corporate Social Responsibility: Evidence from an Emerging Market

The Influence of Corporate Governance on Corporate Social Responsibility: Evidence from an Emerging Market
Velayutham, Eswaran
The study aims to investigate further the nexus between corporate governance and corporate social responsibility practice using a sample of Sri Lankan public listed firms during the period 2012-2017. Corporate social responsibility reporting practices are affected by institutional mechanisms and firm-level corporate governance factors. Studying the relationship between corporate governance and corporate social responsibility practice in an emerging market is imperative because emerging market settings are characterised by institutional voids. This study adopts two econometric methods developed by Beck and Katz (1995) and Driscoll and Kraay (1998) to tackle the potential problems of heteroscedasticity, cross sectional dependence, and autocorrelation that might be present in the panel data set. This study finds that the larger size of the audit committee is a significant determinant of corporate social responsibility
and fails to find evidence of the rest of the studied corporate governance variables in Sri Lanka. Instead, firms operating in Sri Lanka may engage in CSR to fill the institutional voids.
